After spending a bit of time slacking off from work in the sex-positive region of the blogosphere, it can be easy to forget the conservative nature of day-to-day life for most of us. Blogging and other forms of outreach and activism about sexuality are still very much a revolutionary act, one which can bear heavy consequences. I’m far from the only one to make a dramatic career shift due to conflicts with the boss over such things. Even though I’m trained to work with couples on issues that include sexuality, I knew the old career path couldn’t last the day I was banned from making condoms available. Now, one of our own has had to leave her established career over sexual-political implications. As if that weren’t bad enough, she must also defend her daughter from being brought into the fray by her former employer!
Her answer? A highly affordable auction of amazingly sexy goods and services donated by new and old friends!
More after the jump:
Those of us who are familiar with the blog Catalina Loves have been privileged to witness some amazing recent events. Our beloved Catalina has had a bit of a difficult time lately. You can read more about it at her blog, but the brief version is that her place of employment, which was also her daughter’s school, disagrees with her affiliations with the sexuality community. Needless to say, that part of her life has nothing to do with her former job, yet they’re out for blood. As a result, she no longer works there and no longer receives many of the tuition benefits for her daughter, including some she was told she could retain.
In a stunning show of unity and caring, those around her joined to assist, and so she has been able to raise the necessary funds for her daughter to complete middle school without transferring. The creative idea? A truly exciting auction of donated sexy and fetish items, with tickets at an affordable $10. Funds are now going to NCSF, one of very few organizations that stands behind us, since she has raised enough for tuition. The list of items for auction includes sex signed books, original artwork and limited prints, jewelry, worn fetish star panties (latex!) and much more! Her friend, and auction contributer, Lochai started the concept of commUNITY and it shows beautifully at this action event.
One one hand I don’t want you to buy any tickets so I have a better chance of winning; on the other hand, I know I should give you the link. Scroll down to find the list of items and button for buying a $10 ticket or making a donation. Go on over and take a look – the response is heartwarming and the items available are likely to warm you somewhere else! Seriously good stuff!
