I Am Their Drug says one operator

"I Am Their Drug" says one operator

While digging through articles on sexuality I came across a book due out in November entitled Phonesex by Phillip Toledano. In it, he offers us a photo-documentary on the lives of those brave souls who stand ready to handle any call that comes their way with grace and eroticism.

It promises a fascinating look at the memories of first calls and worst calls, all the while viewing the person behind the voice. The woman who indulged her first scat (poop) fantasy, and another who has had three customers call her in order to have someone hear the gun go off. A man who gives his clients a safe, healing place to be out, and another who fields calls from women who want to meet him in real life, yet he never agrees.

While I’m a bit nervous about any book that misspells the word “masturbate” (there is a “u” in the middle, not an “e”) I must admit that this one looks like it may redeem itself. Check out the preview on the author’s site, and another set with some different photos at Mother Jones.

I know I have at least one reader who has worked phone sex (as a looner), and I’m curious to hear from more of you. What do you think of this book idea? Would you consent to participating in such a project? And customers, would you want to know these things about the operators you patronize?
